Who We Are

We are a group of volunteers who work to reduce the use of single passenger & internal combustion automobiles on Pender Island. We advocate for, & create trails, car stops and public transportation options

Chair

Niall is an avid cyclist, hiker and sailor, and with energy efficient low impact transportation a key aspect of life here on Pender, Niall has been involved with MAP from the start. Other interests include solar power, electronics (especially keeping older gear out of the landfills) and volunteering with the local marine SAR station.

Secretary

Peter Paré is a volunteer with MAP, as well as with several  groups on Pender, and other Gulf Islands. While chair of MAP Peter helped organize a  partnership with trail groups on the other SGIs to
establish the Gulf Island Trails Society  to enable the creation of trails on private land by providing liability insurance.  He is
currently on the board of the Pender Island Health Care Society and the
Gulf Island Trails Society

Treasurer

Dave has packed a ton into his 25 years on Pender Island. A MAP member for a decade, Dave loves to build & maintain  MAP's trails, and still misses his time as a bus driver. Dave also volunteers with the Green Angel's Wood Choppers, and is a member of Solstice Theatre.

Peter Easthope

Peter Easthope, recently retired from the Dept of Pathhology at UBC, is a long-time member of MAP. Peter is always up for the challenge associated with making new trails, and enjoys working with other volunteers on trail upkeep.  Peter may be seen travelling around the Pender byways on his 3-wheeler bike.
